Patient Accounts Insurance Representative Supervisor

Patient First Glen Allen, VA (Onsite) Full-Time

The responsibilities of this job include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Supervising the Insurance Representative Department including Insurance Representatives, Assistants, and Team Leads;
  • Submitting weekly, monthly, and quarterly productivity and inventory reports to the Patient Accounts Manager;
  • Completing annual performance evaluations for Insurance Representatives, Assistants, and Team Leads for established employees and after the first 90 days for new employees;
  • Ensuring adherence to established Patient First policies and procedures;
  • Setting goals for performance in compliance with Patient First’s vision and communicating goals to the department;
  • Ensuring Team Leads monitor productivity and provide constructive feedback for process improvement;
  • Documenting employee performance as needed;
  • Adjusting account balances and fees due to timely filing and reclassifying accounts as needed;
  • Assigning projects to staff as needed;
  • Attending staff meetings as directed;
  • Attending in-person meetings and conference calls with designated insurance company representatives;
  • Maintaining timekeeping and personnel records;
  • Interviewing and selecting staff as needed;
  • Operating and maintaining office equipment as trained.

Minimum education requirements include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Management or Healthcare Administration (preferred) or combined equivalent of 3 years’ education and experience in the health care field, preferably in a medical billing department;
  • Knowledge of general insurance policies and the health care claims revenue cycle;
  • CPC-A, CPC, or CPB certification (preferred);
  • Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask;
  • Employee must be 18 years or older;
  • Must be proficient with using a computer and phone system and navigating Microsoft Office software;
  • Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time (possibly 4 to 7 hours at a time).
